What is Automation Testing?

Automation testing is the process of using specialized software tools to perform repetitive and time-consuming tasks, such as testing, in an automated manner. The goal of automation testing is to increase efficiency and reduce the chances of human error by automating repetitive tasks.

There are many different types of automation testing, such as:

Unit testing automation: This type of automation testing focuses on automating the execution of unit tests.

Functional testing automation: This type of automation testing focuses on automating the execution of functional tests, such as testing the functionality of a software application.

Performance testing automation: This type of automation testing focuses on automating the execution of performance tests, such as testing the scalability and response time of a software application.

Regression testing automation: This type of automation testing focuses on automating the execution of regression tests, such as testing to ensure that changes to the software have not introduced new bugs or caused existing features to break.

API testing automation: This type of automation testing focuses on automating the testing of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) UI testing automation: This type of automation testing focuses on automating the testing of the user interface of a software application. Automation testing can be used to increase efficiency and reduce costs by reducing the time and resources required to perform repetitive tasks. However, it's important to note that it's not a replacement for manual testing and it's better to use it as a complement to it. Because, it can't always identify all the defects that a human tester can, especially those related to usability, compatibility, and overall user experience.
